Mural exhibition competition in honor of Independence Day
The Department of Criminology at Dhaka University organized a mural exhibition competition in honor of Independence Day. The opening ceremony of this event took place on Thursday, presided over by Professor Dr. Jia Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The event was attended by Chairperson Shaharia Afrin of the Criminology Department, and other faculty members from the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, including Professor Rafiq Shahriar. The murals on display covered various topics, including the Language Movement, the War of Independence, the Liberation War, the mass killings during the 1971 war, Bangladesh, Bengali language, and culture. This competition brought together nearly 22 teams formed by students from different academic years in the Criminology Department. During the event, Professor Dr. Jia Rahman, as the chief guest, paid respects to the ideals of Bangabandhu and the four national leaders and expressed her admiration for the enthusiasm and commitment of the students in the Criminology Department. She praised the students for their determination to build the "Sonar Bangla" (Golden Bengal) of Bangabandhu's dreams, taking inspiration from his ideals. Chairperson Shaharia Afrin thanked the students for their participation and their spirit of volunteerism. She acknowledged that the students' involvement in this initiative has rekindled the awareness of the Liberation War and the spirit of the youth. She expressed hope that the youth would lead the country forward in the future, given the enthusiasm and commitment they have shown in this event. The exhibition will continue for the next week
