11th-anniversary celebration of the Department of Criminology

The 11th-anniversary celebration of the Department of Criminology at Dhaka University took place on June 1, 2023. On this occasion, a special ceremony was organized, and it began with Professor Mujaffar Ahmed Choudhury Milonat in attendance. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. M. Akhtaruzzaman, was the chief guest at the event, and the anniversary cake was cut under his leadership. Following this, a colorful procession was held, starting from the Social Science Faculty building and led by various dignitaries, including the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Jia Rahman, and the department chairperson, Shaharia Afrin. Professor Dr. M. Akhtaruzzaman, as the chief guest, extended warm wishes to the faculty and students of the department on the occasion of their 11th anniversary. He emphasized the department's essential role in addressing the country's crime tendencies and contributing to the creation of a peaceful society through education and research. He urged the faculty and students to maintain the quality of education and research and play a more integral role in the nation's development through their inclusive perspectives. Furthermore, during the anniversary celebration, cultural events and awards were presented. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the university, Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, as the chief guest, distributed awards to the winners. He acknowledged the achievements of students in various cultural competitions, such as music, poetry, and drama, and highlighted the role of cultural activities in representing the nation's history and heritage. In his speech, Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad emphasized the significant contributions of Dhaka University's teachers and students in various cultural and democratic movements, including language movements and the struggle for independence. He encouraged students to enrich themselves through intellectual discussions and play an active role in the country's development. This event celebrated the 11th anniversary of the Criminology Department at Dhaka University and recognized the achievements and contributions of students and faculty members.
