In the heart of the bustling University of Dhaka, the Criminology Department has added an exquisite layer to its academic tapestry with the establishment of its own Cultural Club. This club is not just about criminological theories; it's also about celebrating the rich and diverse tapestry of culture within and beyond the department. The Criminology Department Cultural Club, or "CrimCulture" as it is affectionately known, is an artistic haven that empowers students to explore, express, and appreciate cultural diversity.
Establishment of DUCCS
At the University of Dhaka's Criminology Department, the "DU Criminology Cultural Society (DUCCS)" was established to promote cultural diversity and cultural appreciation among students. As a part of this initiative, a special screening of a movie took place.
On September 21, 2023, at the second floor of the lecture theatre building in the Faculty of Arts, Dhaka University, the movie titled "Zodiac" was screened. After the screening, DUCCS organized a quiz and a meaningful discussion about criminal behavior and profiling, with the participation of esteemed teachers from the Criminology Department. The event was a great opportunity for students to engage in a thought-provoking dialogue about criminality and profiling.
The initiative was met with enthusiasm from students, who expressed a keen interest in further experiences of this nature in the future. It highlights the exceptional initiative of the forward-thinking students and their desire for more thrilling experiences in the days to come.
Mission and Value
DUCCS is not confined by the walls of academia; instead, it transcends boundaries to embrace and celebrate the world's cultures. Students from various backgrounds come together to share their traditions, stories, and artistic expressions. Through cultural events and activities, the club aims to promote cross-cultural understanding, tolerance, and appreciation.
